My Beautiful Countertop!

My kitchen countertop is beautiful! I'm still in awe! I've always wanted a butcher block style counter but could never afford the price tag.
My wonderful, talented hubby worked long and hard to give me my dream countertop :o)
We need to do a bit of finish/detail sanding and then he's going to put the trim pieces up around the edges and build the lower shelves, but I'm really proud of how fabulous everything is looking :o)

  1. Hi, I stumbled across your house building journey and I am very interested in what you are doing. I have followed Tumbleweed for a long time and just got his book and am thinking about going to his two day seminar in Portland in August but:
Your layout seems so much more livable/the stairs up that dogs can use, the kitchen bath layouts with washer/dryer/bigger frig/bigger bath, etc. Did you have to get a bigger trailer and is there a big cost jump in the whole project?
Anything you can share would be appreciated.
I like the whole concept very much and don't want to go the traditional rv route. Thanks!

  2. Hi Ruth,
For our purposes (full time living with 2 dogs), we decided on a 24ft trailer, and yes, the cost involved in building one goes up for any extra space that you add, but it might not be as much as you might think. We have discussed the possibility of building these for others once ours is complete as we feel that everyone should have the opportunity to have their own tiny house, but realize that the price point of the Tumbleweed homes is out of reach for many (it was for us!).
So, that being said, you are certainly more than welcome to come out and visit if you just want to take a peek and see what the size difference feels like, or, if you have other questions go aheand and email me and we can go into more depth there.
    Thanks!
