Closet Doors

Well we finally managed to find the time to work on a few projects around the house, and now I have some lovely closet doors on my coat closet :o) They are made of clear cedar to match the walls with fabric insets to match the curtains. I wanted something that would still allow airflow into the closet in case we put away anything damp.
Also, the trailer frame we special ordered for the next home is here! We're busy planning out the next tiny house, and hope to start building sometime in March if the weather cooporates for a few days at a time. I would love to get it completed by mid July, but we'll see how everything goes. I hear I'm not supposed to count my chickens before they hatch :o)
I'm getting excited to start on the next home though, I have new ideas and plans that have been rolling around in my head and it will be fun to see those plans come to fruition.

  1. I loved reading about your tiny home, I didn't see what size your is. My husband is in the process of building one (we haven't blogged it) that is 8' x 40' It is a little larger than the norm but we wanted a bedroom on the main floor. We have not had to rush to get it done because, ours will be used as a guest house at this time. We had a slight change in plans due to a move to another area and we downsized. I like that yours has all the great features, washer, dryer (a must) Your kitchen counters are wonderful. You two have done a great job thanks for sharing!

  2. Thank you for sharing these snippets of your tiny homestead build! It's so beautiful:D I'm in the dream-idea/ sketch phase of mine. Very encouraging to see folks out there actually building theirs:D Did wonder what type or brand of antique wood stove that is that you will eventually be installing. Thank you again!

  3. Hi Nikki,
Keep the ideas flowing for your own home! It's certainly a lot of fun! We're going to be installing a Washington Stove Works marine stove hopefully by sometime late Summer so it's in for this coming fall :o)

  4. Hi,
Just wanted to say I like what you've done, and that your site was one of several that inspired me to build my own tiny home. I enjoyed watching your home change as mine did, and now I'm living in mine. I recently started a blog featuring my construction process, so please check it out. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to hearing from you.

  5. just wondering if you have any more updates as this seems like it was a very adventurous build... Thanks for the good read

  6. Hello,
I'm in the planning stage and would love to know where you got your trailer and the cost (if I may ask)? I look forward to more pictures.

  7. Hi! Just found your blog and I was wondering where you guys ended up with your tiny house.

    1. Well, we've been pulled in a very different, very unexpected's a good thing, but not what we had anticipated for ourselves. We were looking for property to purchase to park our tiny home on, and ended up finding one at auction that included a residence as well, so we're working on that at present and getting garden space, orchards, etc ready to go.
